These Chocolate Almond Protein Energy Bites are simple and nutrition packed with the perfect amount of sweetness. And they are both kid and adult-approved!
This is the first time I have ever purchased dates and obviously first time making anything with them.
Apparently, it was quite a shock to my husband (thinking we’re going to eat these plain?!).
If you’ve ever looked at ingredients for energy bites or balls, you’ve likely noticed many of them call for dates. The reason is they are a great healthy ingredient that helps the other ingredients stick together – for lack of a better description.
I have used peanut butter plenty of times as the “sticky” ingredient like in these No-Bake Chocolate Chip Energy Bites.
And these No-Bake Almond Cranberry Bites but I wanted to try something new.
Now I have plenty of “ready-to-eat” packaged snacks in our kitchen cabinet.
I couldn’t possibly make all the snacks that my kids consume from scratch on a daily basis. I do however like to experiment with nutritious ingredients and expose my kids to new ones.
Thankfully they loved these energy bites (husband included) and they literally took only about 5 minutes to make.
I don’t have a good food processor so I used my blender. I believe a food processor would be faster but the blender worked just fine.
Dietitian’s Dish
Dates are a great source of fiber and contain several important nutrients like potassium, calcium, iron and more!
As for the energy bites in general they are packed full of nutrition, particularly protein and healthy fats. If you have 5 minutes in the kitchen, try making a batch of these bites, you’ll likely want to make them weekly. We sure do!
